Franco Galante

He is an Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Torino. During his Ph.D., he mainly explored the world of opinion dynamics, trying to understand and capture the intricacies of online interactions by complementing mathematical modeling with statistical data analysis.

In addition to his work on social networks, he has also recently been working on Machine Learning for predictive maintenance, in a joint project with a leading automotive company. And, also from a theoretical perspective, on a distributed collaborative problem in the context of Federated Learning.

Other ongoing projects include the use of Graph Neural Networks in the context of transmission quality estimation in optical networks, the development of new techniques to avoid model forgetting in the context of Continual Learning, quantitative models to assess the societal impact of Generative AI, and also data-inspired models to explain the mechanisms behind influencers popularity.
